The Wildcats had only an occasional good season and individual star on the field. But the fact is that during the '50s, '60s and '70s, losing records and disappointing seasons became the standard in Manhattan. And by the end of the 1980s, the team was mired in a 30-game losing streak and considered the worst college football team in America. Then the turn around. But with four minutes remaining, Florida State connected on a 48-yard field goal to tie the game and force overtime. Both teams would make exciting plays in the three overtimes and in the end Penn State Kicker Kevin Kelly proved that the third time is a charm as he connected for the 29-yard game winning field goal.
